Federal dollars for Oconee and Pickens utility work

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) submitted the following member-directed spending requests for Interior, Environment and Related Agencies projects in South Carolina. Graham made the requests to the Senate Appropriations Committee, on which he serves.

The Interior, Environment and Related Agencies funding requests include:

Aiken County: $10 million for wastewater treatment plant expansion.
Anderson County: $10 million for wastewater treatment plant upgrade.
Chester County Wastewater Recovery: $10 million for wastewater collection system.
City of Aiken: $8 million for water treatment system upgrade.
City of Beaufort: $800,000 for storm water management.
City of Cayce: $3 million for drainage infrastructure improvement.
City of Easley: $480,000 for storm water revitalization.
City of Rock Hill: $20 million for wastewater improvements.
Greenville Water: $20 million for transmission main line upgrades.
MetroConnects: $9 million for sewer system upgrades in Greenville County.
Oconee County: $650,000 for sanitary sewer infrastructure.
Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments: $423,000 for water plant improvements.
Pickens Regional Joint Water System: $10 million for water treatment plant.
“I believe it is important that elected officials have a say in how taxpayer money is spent and not rely on bureaucrats in Washington to protect South Carolina’s interests,” said Graham. “The funding requests for member-directed spending items are public record. Every person will be able to judge for themselves if these are worthwhile requests. I believe these projects meet those requirements and will pay dividends for our state in the years to come.”
