Fatalities in two Anderson County wrecks

The Anderson coroner reports two people dead–the result of two separate Sunday afternoon traffic accidents.  In one, an Anderson sheriff’s officer was hurt and taken to a hospital.  He was identified by the state patrol as Jonathan Michael Westbrook, 30 years old.  Coroner Greg Shore identified the fatality of that accident as 80-year old Sarah Parson of Anderson, driver of the second vehicle.  The crash occurred at 3:30 pm on the highway 28 bypass in front of Wal-Mart.  According to Shore, investigation indicates Parson’s car was hit by the sheriff’s office vehicle that was responding to an emergency call.  A second fatal accident at 3:35 pm yesterday occurred near Pendleton on Danenhower Road.  The coroner is withholding the name of the deceased pending notification of family members.  After impact, the victim’s car went down an embankment and burst into flames.
