Famed Cashiers’ golf club sued in federal court

Thirteen former members of the Wade Hampton Golf Club have taken the Cashiers, North Carolina club to court.  The 13, who resigned their memberships, are alleging fraud and breach of contract and demand equity redemption monies (a total of $698 thousand) they claim they are owed to them by the Wade Hampton club.  Their lawsuit, in the U-S District Court in Asheville, claims they paid initiation fees of $140 thousand to join the club.  They claim the number of additional full memberships since 2012 triggered the club’s obligation to pay the redemption amounts on a priority list.  On July 23, mediation discussions in the case were terminated. According to plaintiff’s lawsuit, Golf Digest in2014 rated the Wade Hampton Golf Club the 10th most beautiful course in America.
