Early vote numbers are shattered

Three people in line at a Walhalla restaurant wore “I Voted” stickers.  It’s likely sign that they are among the thousands of Oconee voters who’ve cast early ballots for the November General Election.  The state Election Commission reported today the record for most voters voting early in one day was broken  again with almost 50 thousand ballots cast yesterday at early voting centers–such as the one in the Oconee County administrative government building on Walhalla’s S. Pine Street.  By early this afternoon, the Oconee early vote number was 6,883.  That equates to 11% of the total number of all county voters.  Early voting will end Saturday.
