Duke Energy faces deadline to file direct testimony

Duke Energy faces a deadline sometime before midnight to make a filing with state government in Columbia.  What’s called direct testimony is due to be filed with the Public Service Commission which has scheduled a September 26 hearing.  Fuel costs reflect the cost of fuel transportation, and the costs related to the power that electric utilities buy from other businesses to provide electricity to its customers.  Anxiously awaiting the Duke filing is the state Office of Regulatory Staff.  That office represents the public when it comes to regulating utilities. ORS spokesman Hank Page today said, “When their (Duke’s) testimony is available, our legal and audit teams will meet to determine what they’re asking for, then relay those numbers to the remainder of our staff here.”
