Duke buys land with Bad Creek in mind

Duke Energy swings big land deals near Salem! The utility company today released the following statement:  “Duke Energy recently completed the purchase of 2,000 acres of land in Salem, S.C.  We constantly evaluate and pursue real estate opportunities that could support current or future system needs.  This purchase relates to future planned grid enhancement projects including the potential of added capacity at our Bad Creek pumped-storage facility.  The company recently completed upgrades to the four-unit station that added 320 megawatts of capacity and we continue to explore the potential of expanding that asset in the future.”
