Drug roundup developments

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing
today an additional arrest in the first drug round-up of 2023.
The Sheriff’s Office began the operation with a meeting and briefing at 8:30am, on Tuesday,
February 7th, at the Law Enforcement Center in Walhalla.
The Sheriff’s Office obtained arrest warrants on 22 subjects. The arrest warrants were
obtained based on controlled purchases of narcotics by undercover operatives working at the
direction of the Sheriff’s Office. Among the narcotics purchased during the controlled buys
were Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Fentanyl, Heroin, Marijuana, Methamphetamine, and Prescription
Medication.
As of 9am today, 21 subjects had been arrested so far and/or were already in jail and will or
have been served their warrants. Here is the name of the additional subject arrested:
 Lee Roy Witt
48 years old
Westminster, SC
Distribution of Methamphetamine – 1 count
Trafficking in Methamphetamine – 1 count
Witt was arrested after a traffic stop by the Westminster Police Department Thursday
afternoon at the intersection of West-Oak Highway and Cedar Street.
Witt was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:26pm Thursday.
At this time, Witt remains in jail. Witt received a combined $75,000 surety bond on the
Sheriff’s Office charges.
Witt has also been served with a warrant for a Probation Violation by the South Carolina
Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.
