District Three candidates’ “Meet-and-Greet” October 1

Saturday was a chance for the one man and two women competing for Seat One, Oconee School Board to meet and greet the public at a Keowee Key events.  The one woman and three men vying for Seat Three get their chance at a second “Citizens for Childhood Education in Oconee” event to take place 10 to 11:30 am Saturday, October 1 at Senior Solutions, Perry Avenue, Seneca. The District Three incumbent, Sandra Sloan, delivered a campaign speech yesterday at the county Democratic Party BBQ.  In her first term, the one African-American member of the five-member board said she is pleased that, in her term, the district has employed the first two minority principals.  Sloan also told of a teacher-recruiting trip to Texas whose purpose was an attempt to interest Spanish-speaking teachers in working in the Oconee School District.
