Deeper dive into “root cause analysis” term

A term used during this week’s meeting of Oconee County Council:  root cause analysis.  Chairman Matthew Durham used the term to help figure out why there have been repeated failures to the rock-crushing equipment at the county quarry.  Rock sold to truck haulers is a money-making enterprise for county government.  But Durham and others have raised concern that the Five Forks area operation is not realizing its capability. The chairman’s motion to direct the administrator to conduct a “deep dive” into what could be wrong received a quick second from District Five’s Glenn Hart.  And the council, citing emergency reasons, amended its agenda to allow for a vote on what was a non-agenda item.
