Deadly infections shutter animal shelter

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter at Lavonia, overcrowded with dogs in need of homes, has been forced to close for two weeks.  They have detected the deadly parvovirus.  Lake Hartwell Radio WLHR quotes the shelter director as saying one day after litters of puppies had been sent to the Greenville Humane Society the puppies broke with parvo.  No other dogs in the shelter are sick or show signs of the disease.
