Crowd packs city hall, air-conditioning fails

An overflow crowd filled the meeting, others stood in the back.  Several found themselves on the loading deck at the back of the Walhalla City Hall–all wanting to listen or to speak on the city’s biggest controversy in recent memory.  On top of limited seating, the building’s air-conditioning failed, making greenway not the only hot topic of the night.  Mayor Edwards apologized.  He explained that the air-conditioning went out yesterday and the city has replacement parts on order. Edwards admitted he did not foresee the numbers of people coming to the meeting.  Some arrived as as early as 4 o’clock for a meeting that did not start until 5:30.  And who got seats and who didn’t was another issue.  Edwards promised council’s next meeting will be moved to the Depot and its larger seating accommodations.
