Couple accused of illegally taking refuge in church building

A North Carolina couple have been arrested in Oconee County, in an incident in which the sheriff’s office discovered of two people inside a church building — there without the authorization of the church.  The two people were charged with utilities theft of electric current and third degree burglary after a sheriff’s sergeant found them on Monday inside a building belonging to the Calvary Church of God, the Long Creek Highway.  The man was found inside a closet; the woman found asleep on a futon-style bed.  The sheriff’s office investigation determined the couple unlawfully entered the building and used electricity there without legal authority.  According to the sheriff’s investigator, the youth pastor became suspicious when he noticed a strange vehicle parked behind the fellowship hall and backed up to a shed.
