Count Melendez in for a place on the November ballot

Late yesterday afternoon Sarai Melendez, a sitting member of the Walhalla City Council, was on her way to Pine Street to sign up as a candidate for re-election to the city council.  She’s completing her first, four-year council term.  The field for three available, four-year council seats is expanding with, by 101.7/WGOG NEWS’ count, at least seven candidates.  The qualifying deadline looms at straight up noon tomorrow for all residents of Oconee’s five towns and cities to run for office.
