Consider a career in sewer work

In a popular TV series way back in the last century, Jackie Gleason’s sidekick, Art Carney, spent his working days in the sewers of New York.  Not a glamourous job, but a necessary one.  These days there’s great need for workers to man Oconee’s treatment plant, as several of the plant’s workers are within a few years of retirement and no replacements are on the horizon.  It leads to the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority to re-think how it attracts workers.  As mentioned in a meeting yesterday, pay is a problem as other sewer operations across the Upstate offer salaries sometimes tens of thousands of dollars above Oconee. The JRSA has turned to Tri-County Tech for help in creating an apprentice program.
