Concrete work started at Walhalla’s Chicopee Field

Mayor Danny Edwards of Walhalla announced this afternoon concrete work is underway at Chicopee Ballfield – thanks to a partnership involving the city and the Walhalla Partners for Progress.  In November, the city awarded a contract of some $24 and a half thousand dollars to Doug Peay Masonry.  Partners for Progress have helped raise money for the work.  Edwards gave the following numbers:  Partners will be asked for $16 thousand, and the city will pay the rest.  “That”, says the mayor, “will leave us enough money in reserve to build dugouts, buy banners, designate seats (in memory) and some other work needed.”  Edwards regrets the time the project has taken to now and expressed gratitude to all who have donated money and thanks for their patience.  He recommends driving by the field to see a good stand of grass cover and almost all of the rocks have been removed.
