Collegiate graduation news

More than 1,000 students are set for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees this week in Clemson University graduation ceremonies.  Doctoral hooding takes place at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon in the Brooks Center; commencement for bachelor’s and master’s degree candidates is scheduled for 9 am and 11 am Friday in Littlejohn Coliseum.  Doors open two hours prior to ceremonies. The ceremonies will be live streamed by Clemson TV.  Tri-County Technical College’s summer commencement was August 3 at Littlejohn.  The keynote speaker was Moody Black, a spoken-word, hip hop and visual artist, actor, storyteller, comedian and teaching artist from Spartanburg.  Black issued this challenge to the grads to create a culture of excellence:  “Ask yourself, ‘Am I showing my experience?’  By doing so, you will stand out.  Whether at the university you transfer to or to the job your skills allow to acquire … you can make it excellent! That’s how you transform lives and build strong communities.”
