Code-named project revealed

On the Oconee County Council private session agenda of recent months, a code-named economic development project has been listed as “Green Paw”.  The name has been explained to 101.7/WGOG NEWS by a person in position to know.  The “Green” stands for the industrial plant known as Greenfield and the “Paw” stands for the nearby Tiger Paw restaurant.  And the project in question is the large apartment complex that a Texas developer wants to build around the restaurant on property that stretches along 123 to the Davis Creek Road traffic lights, adjacent to Greenfield manufacturing.  Developer Brent Little, who developed the Dockside project, on 123 in Clemson across the Seneca River Bridge, is offering to put up part of the financing necessary to run utilities to his planned Oconee apartment complex and is thought to be the only developer to make such an offer in the county.  However, so far, not everyone is enamored of the idea of hundreds of new apartment units and the traffic they will add to the busy Seneca-Clemson corridor.
