Clemson’s “Bottoms” lands are changing

The nature of farm property on the grounds of Clemson University known as “The Bottoms” is undergoing change.  The Bottoms contain 90 acres of rich floodplain soils on the main campus between Lake Hartwell and Perimeter Road.  Staff in the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences are exploring how agriculture can feed people while also contribute solutions to some of today’s difficult challenges.  The changes are aimed at using the patterns of nature to re-imagine farms as places that produce community benefits, along with food, fiber, and fuel. Grading work is improving drainage for the restoration agriculture portion of the new multi-functional agriculture farm.
