Clemson students develop a navigation assistance device

When Clemson University first-year student Devin Casper had a wreck with his brother in the car, it scared him.  But it also got him thinking.  The Casper’s 2010 Subaru was not equipped with a computer-assisted driver notification system common in vehicles today.  Since then, Casper and his roommate, Soren Spina, pitched their idea for Octasight, a navigation assistance device, and won the College of Science’s Catalyst Competition. They won $2,500.  Their Octasight would alert drivers of obstacles before they hit them.  Spina says, “We believe this product can go to market.”
