Clemson proposes new sidewalk work

In advance of filing a grant application, city of Clemson will hold a public hearing.  The Pickens County municipality announces it will seek $750 thousand through the state Commerce Department in the form of a Community Development Block Grant.  Clemson proposes new 5′ wide sidewalk long Abel Road and Curtis Circle along with 650 linear feet of lane separated pedestrian facilities.  The sidewalk is to connect 40 homes to existing sidewalk on SC 93, Rotary Park, Littlejohn Community Center, and the Abel Baptist Church and benefit 100 people in the area.  The city’s part is supplementing the grant with $226,555 in local matching money.  The hearing takes place 6:30 pm Tuesday, September 5 at City Hall.
