Clemson preps for collegiate rowers

A Clemson tradition, in winter’s waning weeks of the cold season, to host collegiate rowing teams from across the country — especially from colder climates where conditions make rowing competition difficult if not impossible.  Teams will stay in the Clemson area and use Lake Hartwell’s Twelve Mile Recreation Area as their launch point.  Because of safety and congestion, the city of Clemson will close the recreation facility for both public and pass holder use between Sunday, February 19 and through Tuesday, March 28.  For annual pass holders and gate codes, the code will be inoperable.  For all other patrons, the gates won’t take payment to allow entry.  The park will re-open and gate codes again become operable starting March 29.  It’s Clemson’s hope that pass holders and regular visitors to Twelve Mile will visit other park locations.
