Clemson in the fight versus cybercrime

Alongside four other universities, Clemson is part of a task force of researchers to create digital tools to help older adults better recognize and protect against online deceptions – such as the one that victimized a Seneca retiree in recent times.  The research team has a two-year, $5 million agreement with the National Science Foundation.  Clemson researchers are led by Darren Linvill.  He and his Clemson colleagues are working with researchers from the University of Buffalo, Cornell University, Lehigh University, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.  They’ve already held a meeting with older adults in South Carolina and western New York to better understand why they fall victim to online deceptions.
