Clemson events service sues two ex-employees

A Berkeley County-based company that contracted with Clemson University for crowd management and event services has filed lawsuit against two former employees, alleging breach of contract and breach duty of loyalty.  Those grounds are among ten causes of action spelled out by attorneys from the Charleston area on behalf of plaintiff Event Partners LLC.  Named defendants were two Oconee County residents—Jeffrey and Wendy Siggins—and Max Events Inc.  On the introduction page of a 21—page complaint filed this week in the Oconee Common Pleas Court, plaintiff’s attorney Brett Ehman and G. Rutledge DuRant of Mount Pleasant the following allegations are made:  “During their employment with EPI and upon information and belief, the Siggins surreptitiously conspired with each other and MEI and took advantage of Jeffrey Siggins’ role as EPI’s Event Manager managing Clemson University events to directly compete with EPI and to solicit EPI’s business with Clemson and the Dabo Swinney Foundation on behalf of themselves and MEI.”  Damages are sought.  The allegations in the lawsuit are subject to a court’s examination; the defendants are required to formally respond to them within a prescribed period required by the common pleas court.
