Clemson doctoral student cops a “NASA” research grant

A doctoral student at Clemson, Madeline Clyburn, will use a “NASA” research grant to investigate the physics of merging black holes.  Out in space, a black hole is a region so strong that nothing has enough energy to escape it.  Clyburn will use a computer simulation to predict how massive black hole binaries will appear to telescopes in the final days before they spiral inward and coalesce into a single black hole.
