Civil trial settlement reached

As a 4-day Oconee trial was about to head to the jury for a verdict, a settlement was reached.  An officer of the Common Pleas Court this afternoon said, “Yes, the parties did come to a settlement agreement.  There are many different parts to the settlement, so the details will be available once the order is approved and signed by Judge McIntosh.”  The case of Balsitis vs. Walker centered on allegations that the Balsitis’ Lake Keowee property was water-damaged from mud, silt and other debris caused by their neighbors, the Walkers. In their court pleadings, the plaintiffs sought about $50 thousand in damages.
