City of Columbia resident is wanted man in Walhalla

A man spotted running into woods this morning near Westminster has been identified by law enforcement as wanted by the Walhalla police.  Oconee E-911 reported a call this morning from a resident of Heath Road, near the Dr. John’s Road, as saying she answered a knock on her door from a man wanting help for a flat tire.  He was driving a white older model Honda and described as a white male, gray hoodie, and tennis shoes.  Oconee Sheriff’s Office has identified Ralph Jake Goss Jr., 38-year resident of Columbia, as the subject of outstanding Walhalla arrest warrants alleging kidnapping, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct.  The investigation arises from an incident Sunday at a W. Main Street, Walhalla business.  Deputies who responded this morning to the Dr. John’s Road area issued a reverse 911 call to residents. By 10 o’clock, the officers remained at the scene, attempting to find Goss , with help of K-9 officers.  If you come into contact with Ralph Jake Goss Jr., call 911.
