City membership’s dues increase

Kevin Bronson, the Westminster administrator, explained last night that the best benefit of his city’s membership in “SCAMPS”–the South Carolina Association of Municipal Power Systems — is that, in the event of a utility disaster, Westminster can count on help from utility workers from throughout the membership of the power group.  But the city will pay more to keep its membership as, for Westminster, the dues are increasing from $451.50 cents a year to $2,370.76 as “SCAMPS” will hire a full-time staff member to help run the organization.
