Chief Goff Lifetime Achievement Awards

A Sunday afternoon ceremony at the Keowee Fire Department remembered the department’s first chief, Ed Goff, a career fire fighter who, along with his wife, Carolyn, relocated from the Midlands to a cabin in Tamassee and took the reins of the fire department based at Keowee Key in the mid 1990’s.  He designed the original firehouse and Keowee’s first fire engine, hired the paid staff, and recruited volunteers.  Yesterday the Keowee Fire Department presented the first Ed Goff Lifetime Achievement Awards to Don Chamberlain, Dan French, Mark Lee, Jack Leitch, Stephen Lomas, Will Merritt, Leo Primeau, and Roger Weeks.  Doing the honors were current Chief Brandon Shirley, who is retiring soon, and his designated successor Kris Childress.
