Changes in an economic development incentive deal

Oconee’s chief recruiter for economic development, Jamie Gilbert of the Oconee Economic Alliance, requested the county fathers last night to OK changes in the inducement terms that are to help bring a new manufacturer to the county’s Information and Technology Park on highway 11.  The company is Meyn America, a distributor of poultry processing equipment.  Meyn is set to occupy some 30 acres in the park where it is to employ 25 people.  Gilbert requested the council to re-set Meyn’s price to purchase the acreage to $579,901 and slightly adjusts the acreage.  The changes, he explained, center on changes to the property infrastructure, and a by-product will be the paving of a new road that’ll access other property that can be developed there for economic purposes.
