“Challenge to be Great” scholarship fund

In its partnership with a neighboring community, Tamassee-Salem Elementary School can count on a scholarship fund that’ll challenge 5th graders to strive for success during the higher years of their education.  The school, with support from the Keowee Falls Cliffs Residents Outreach, is starting a scholarship fund for the 2022 fifth grade class.  After graduation, each eligible student gets a $1 thousand scholarship to attend the two or four-year post-secondary school of their choice.  An important component of the “Challenge to be Great” fund is the mentoring that students receive from the Challenge to be Great committee.  Since 2009, the Cliffs Outreach has provided gap funding for technology, intervention materials, and other school needs.
