Chairman’s announcement preceding tonight’s meeting

Dollar figures, some of them into the millions, are on the agenda for tonight’s meeting of Oconee County Council.  The 6 o’clock meeting in their chambers will allow the county’s governing authority to wade through the agenda for the council’s first February meeting, along with backup material that, according to one council watcher, stretches beyond 140 pages.  In the days leading to tonight’s meeting, Council Chairman Matthew Durham announced tonight will see first reading of “The Oconee Conservative Budget” — a document he describes as landmark because it caps growth at a rate no greater than the sum of annual inflation, along with population growth percentages.
