Celebrating Oconee’s thriving agriculture

A church in the midst of Oconee’s breadbasket will be the gathering spot next week for the annual celebration of county agriculture.  Sponsored by the Oconee Soil and Water Conservation District, the Celebration of Agriculture Banquet takes place at 6 o’clock Thursday, October 26 at the South Union Baptist Church.  Mark Fischer, district conservationist, says there’s lots of interest in those $12 a person tickets that cover fellowship, presentations and awards for local agricultural producers, a catered meal, and more.  Tickets can be purchased prior to October 26 at the Soil and Water office at 301 WS Broad Street, Walhalla or at door that night.  If you are going, please plan to pay by cash or a check.
