At their meeting tonight, look for Oconee school trustees to select a new principal for Seneca’s Blue Ridge Elementary School. That is the expectation of Dr. Michael Thorsland, interim county superintendent, as late as this afternoon. The district received about 20 applications for the principal’s job at Walhalla High School. However, Thorsland says no one has yet to be interviewed.

A road contractor, Ashmore Brothers, has announced the start of work on highway 24 in Oconee County. The project on 24, between highway 11 and 59, will continue until Friday, May 23. A late night house fire in Utica near Seneca has led to the arrest of a 38-year old man on the charge of attempted murder. According to the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, Jacob Daniel Drotning is charged with attempted murder.
