Fair-Oak Youth Center board meets tonight

The public has an invitation to attend a meeting tonight of the board for the Fair-Oak Youth Center. There will be discussion of the proposed Golden Corner Community Center—a project that’ll depend on whether Oconee voters approve this fall’s one-cent sales tax referendum. Tonight’s meeting takes place at the Fair-Oak Youth Center and begins at 6 o’clock.

Motorcycle wreck proves fatal

A Sunday evening motorcycle accident near Seneca proved fatal to its operator—a 38-year old man. Coroner Karl Addis said the victim, Martinze Oneal Buchanan, went into cardiac arrest and died in the emergency room at the hospital an hour later. In three ceremonies today, Clemson University graduates 3,200 students. In the first ceremony this morning, first-year President James Clements challenged graduates and everyone else to make a difference. The morning ceremony included the colleges of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Science, with 561 students receiving degrees; and Engineering and Science, with 900.
