Oconee’s ship comes in!

This looks like bonanza day for Oconee County government. The coffers of the county treasury apparently are being enriched today by the 2018 property tax payment of Oconee’s largest taxpayer, Duke Energy. That payment is approximately $30 million. By satisfying their annual obligation today, Duke avoids a three percent late penalty that would apply after today.
