Lake Jocassee access area to be set aside for recreation

An arm of the federal government has no objection to Duke Energy relinquishing 18 acres of Lake Jocassee property to allow the South Carolina DNR to use the property for recreation purposes. “FERC”—the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission—has given its blessing to allow Duke to convey the property to the DNR. The property is known as the Bootleg Access Area and is located on the Pickens County side of the lake. The DNR indicates it will manage the property in conjunction with its Jim Timmerman Natural Resources Area.
