Car fatally strikes large bear near Toccoa, Georgia

A large bear, 250-300 pounds, was killed last week when hit by a car near Toccoa, Georgia.  Radio WNEG quotes a wrecker service operator as saying the bear was hit on the Highway 17 ByPass at Highway 145.  The wrecker operator, Marvin Brown, said he processed the necessary DNR paperwork to take the body of the bear to be mounted.  Surprisingly, Brown said, the car involved avoided major body damage.
