Capacity worries at the treatment plant

At the committee level, there are questions about the capability of Oconee’s sewer plant to meet the needs of a growing county.  Those questions and, to an extent, concerns were raised at yesterday’s full meeting of the board of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority.  Chris Eleazer, JRSA executive director, concedes there’s a lot of talk about housing building boom within the JRSA’s service territory, but a lot of it is in the form of simple inquiries from builders and developers and some of those inquiries have yet to mount to anything firm.  Still, Brian Ramey of Westminster, Celia Myers of Walhalla and Scott Moulder of Seneca, are asking questions about a possible need to expand the county’s 40-plus year treatment plant or, in the alternative, build a second plant.
