Candidate’s name to be twice on the ballot

The name of Kenny Johns will appear twice on the November ballot, according to an Oconee election official.  In the first flurry of candidate qualifying, Kenny Johns signed up for the General Election for a four-year Walhalla city council term.  He has already qualified to be a candidate in the special November General Election that’ll decide who fills Tyler Jordan’s unexpired term on council with two years remaining.  According to Ryan Nowland, the Johns’ tactic means that, should he win both elections, he’s free to choose the seat with a four-year term.  Conversely, if he fails to win a four-year term and, instead, wins the special election, he may serve on council for two years.
