“C” funds applied to top priority paving jobs

Oconee’s state “C” Fund Committee agreed yesterday to dole out necessary money to allow Seneca and the DOT to pave roads and streets in the corporate limits and locations across rural Oconee.  The Seneca request was approved for $561 thousand to pave parts of Hillandale Road, Red Cardinal Road, and Bluebird Court.  For the DOT, Randy Russell received money approval to pave parts of state roads Goddard Avenue near Seneca and the local DOT’s top priority, a remaining section of the Sitton Mill Road.  “C” Fund chairman Sam Dickson disclosed that his committee’s budget from the state has been strengthened by a one-time allotment of $1.1 million, the result of a proviso approved late last year in Columbia.  The county of Oconee has yet to submit its request for “C” money for this paving season, although the committee was told yesterday that the county public works department’s request for contractor bids are due back by March 31.
