Budget projected to produce a surplus

An agreed upon budget yesterday makes the business of sewer treatment in Oconee County in excess of $6 million a year.  The board of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority approved a new operations and maintenance budget projecting $6.7 million in revenues and $6.4 million in expenses.  The year-end surplus is anticipated to be nearly 330 and three-quarter thousand dollars.  A chief characteristic of the 2023-24 budget, as explained by the JRSA’s Chris Eleazer, is the elimination of a pro-rata formula used to charge the JRSA’s member cities and the creation of a base plus flow methodology.
