Brock responds to Hart’s request and rumor

During Council Comments last night, Glenn Hart spoke up about the Oconee Rock Crusher near Walhalla.  Hart requested that council members be included on a communication alert whenever a crusher problem requires a suspension of service.  Amanda Brock, county administrator, responded by saying that failure to include council on a notification list was an oversight and will be corrected.  Secondly, Hart, the District Five councilman, asked whether a rumor is true that the crusher had been fined by an applicable regulatory arm of the federal government.  Rumor not true, according to Brock, who responded by saying that, as far as she and staff know, there is no truth to the crusher being fined by the feds.  In an unrelated action, the council last night approved the hiring of an equipment operator at the quarry for a salary, including benefits, between $52,988 to $59,436 based on experience and training at time of hire.
