Brandon Burton to leave Walhalla’s employ

Walhalla city workers learned today they are losing their 2-year city administrator to resignation.  Brandon Burton has confirmed his departure, to be effective July 27, in letters to the mayor and the council and to the city’s employees.  Burton, who served as city fire chief prior to his appointment as city administrator, announces he misses fire service and has accepted the job of deputy fire chief/emergency manager in Poquoson, Virginia.  To Walhalla employees, he wrote:  “The bonds that we have with each are something that I will hold and cherish for the rest of my days.  I wish you all the best in the future.  Even with the struggles I know that you will do all you can to make Walhalla better….”  Appointed Walhalla city administrator in the summer of 2021, Burton agreed to a three-year contract that, at the start, paid him $70 thousand a year.
