Body pulled from Lake Keowee

Quite a number of people who enjoy outdoor activities are likely to fondly remember the 4th of July in Oconee County–especially those who took to the lakes.  Lake Keowee saw its fair share of bathers, boaters, and the like.  But all was not well. Near Stamp Creek Landing tragedy struck around 5 o’clock last evening.  Bystanders pulled the near lifeless body of a 38-year old man from waters near the Stamp Creek Landing.  That man, a Greenville resident, died about one and a half hours later in the emergency department at the Prisma Oconee Memorial Hospital.  Coroner Karl Addis says death was traced to complications from drowning.  His name will be made publicly known today.  The state DNR is investigating the case.
