Bar-grill closes after two shot dead in parking lot

The mayor in Hartwell, Georgia on social media announced the closing for good of a bar and grill where last week two people were shot dead.  WLHR quoted the post of Hartwell Mayor Brandon Johnson as follows:  “The City of Hartwell received all paperwork confirming the closure….The owner voluntarily forfeited the license following the notification of the hearing.”  The state police—the GBI—meantime are looking for the suspected shooter.  At 2 o’clock Labor Day morning, in the parking lot of Jack’s Bar and Grille, four people were shot, two fatally.  The dead were identified as Roberius Thornton, 39-year old Hartwell resident, and Joseph Johnson, 25-year old Canon, Georgia resident.  A third victim was sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries; a fourth was allowed to go home after treatment.  The GBI welcomes information that can solve the shootings.  Tips may be telephoned to the GBI Athens office at 1-800/597-8477; online thru the GBI website; or by downloading the See Something, Send Something mobile app.
