The Walhalla police announced the arrest this week of a city resident charged with a sex offense.  According to the police, evidence was gathered in an investigation of a report October 10 that led to the charge of criminal sexual conduct with a minor against Wayne Clinton Seavey.  The arrest was made Tuesday.

Figures for first time unemployment claims were released today for the U-S, including Oconee County.  For the country, in one week, 751 thousand new claims were filed.  For the the week November 1-7 in South Carolina, 125 members of the Oconee workforce filed for assistance.  The average South Carolina benefit for the week was $227.92.  Last week was the 33rd […]

The Oconee Humane Society offers veterans the chance to adopt most dogs or cats for a fee of $10 dollars.  All pets are spayed or neutered, have current vaccinations, and are micro-chipped.  The deal is offered through Saturday.
