The new Walhalla Main Street Committee attracted 12 persons to this week’s organization committee meeting.  In that meeting were Amy Welch, Anna Powell, Christy Marlow, Teara Barnwell, Luther Lyle, Liz Kuemmerer, Greg Harris, Vanessa and Michael Apicello, Susan Theiling, Danny Edwards, and Libby Imbody.

Tagging a wild turkey is not the only requirement for South Carolina turkey hunters for the new season.  The DNR will now require hunters to report their harvest by app, website or telephone.  SC Game Check is a new electronic harvest reporting system to track wild turkey harvest on a daily, county-by-county basis.

No one was hurt, but fire broke out in a pickup truck yesterday in the parking lot of the Lowe’s store at Seneca.  Pictures of the fire posted by the fire department show flames engulfing the driver’s side of the truck.

Walhalla makes the following announcement this afternoon: “The City of Walhalla has been made aware of violation notices being issued to bike users of the gravel road and adjacent trails going into the Stumphouse Mountain Bike Park off Ross Mountain Road. The police in Walhalla request motorists and the general public to use caution at N. Church and W. Main streets, where utility workers are attempting to restore electric power.  Earlier, during the storm, the Main Street traffic lights went dark, but they since been restored to service.

New confirmed cases of COVID-19:  856.  Eight are Oconee residents.  Six deaths were documented statewide.  Of 18,794 test results, the positivity was 6.3%.
