Scott speaks on health care for older Americans

Senator Tim Scott is making a commitment this morning for the country to meet the health care needs of older Americans during COVID-19.  The setting for the South Carolina Republican is a Washington hearing conducted by the Senate Special Committee on Aging, on which Scott serves as ranking member.  The committee today is to focus on health care needs for at-risk Americans one year into the pandemic and is hearing from a four-witness panel that includes one South Carolina health official–Anthony Jackson of Roper Saint Francis Healthcare.  In opening remarks, Scott praised all healthcare workers whose work has gotten harder during the pandemic.  An example of that was provided to 101.7/WGOG NEWS yesterday by the husband of an Oconee County nurse.  The man’s wife, during the first weeks of the pandemic, worked longer hours and, for longer period, kept on head-to-toe protective gear, so often that she’d come home at night still wearing it and not realizing she hadn’t taken it off.
