Blood drive to benefit Animal Shelter

Oconee Sheriff’s Office will host a blood drive Saturday to benefit the county’s Animal Shelter. The event will take place noon until 4 o’clock at the shelter, off highway 123. A TBC donor card or a photo ID is required to donate. Individuals can donate blood every 56 days and you must be at least 16 years old to donate.

Shooting victim identified

A woman found shot dead last night inside a rural Oconee County home has been identified. Coroner Karl Addis said the victim was Kathy Elaine Owens, 54, of 100 Sunshine Circle, Apt. 42, Westminster. Addis says an autopsy will take place Sunday to help his office and the Sheriff’s Office with the death investigation.
