Escaped Georgia inmate re-captured

The escape of a former Ohio man from jail in Stephens County, Georgia proved short-lived.  Authorities say Calvin McCoy was found just after daylight Friday, hiding under boxes in the attic of a home near the Hwy. 17 By-Pass.  The apprehension resulted from a surveillance operation carried out by the Stephens Sheriff’s Office of a home on Memorial Drive.

Late night car accident south of Walhalla

Smashed guardrail and skid marks are some of the results of a late night car accident near Walhalla.  Fortunately, as we have been told, the accident did not result in any major injury to the driver.  The accident was reported just before 11:30 last night on SC 183/the Westminster Highway, about one-half mile north of 101.7/WGOG.

Boil water advisory repealed

Water samples collected in an area of Clemson were found to be safe, and the city utilities department has repealed the boil water advisory.  That advisory had been in effect late last week and applied to customers on Ashley Road, Hyde Lane, Colleton Court, Carteret Court, and Albemarle Drive.
